A new study in the American Heart Association journal “Circulation Research” demonstrated that those with a higher risk for heart disease had healthier ranges of blood pressure after consuming resverotrol, a naturally occurring poly-phenol found in the skins of Red Wine grapes. Consumption over a 4 week period of time, increased participants levels of Nitric Oxide, leading to a decrease in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Researchers further concluded, the alcohol present in a glass of red wine may limit this cardiovascular benefit. One step towards better heart health may be to consume at least 10 mg of trans-resveratrol from a quality supplement.
