Withania somnifera- also known as Ashwaganda has been studied for its potential benefits in brain and cognitive health.
Research has evaluated Ashwagandas effects brain health. The understanding is ashwagnda has rejuvenating antioxidant properties as well as potential to modulate inflammatory pathways. In addition, Ashwaganda and other nerviness can adjust the stress response and enhance immune system activity.
Studies done specifically on end-products of brain inflammation have been shown to be reduced after 30 days of ashwaganda root consumption. In addition, ashwaganda demonstrated an elevation of these waste products in the blood, indicating effective transport of the peptides from the brain to the blood for elimination.
Some of the benefits noted were “reversal of behavioral deficits” “increase in low-density lipoprotein receptor contact”
The investigators concluded, there was a therapeutic effect with Ashwaganda by its ability to enhance LDL up regulation receptors offering an effective mechanism for clearance of inflammatory end-products associated with cognitive decline.
